What type of Airbnb towels should I choose?
Here is the set of bath linens we provide for our Airbnb guests. This selection is the result of over 8 years of Superhost experience. Towels and bath sheets essential for your rental:

What’s the best color of towels for Airbnb?
There are many different opinions. Some will tell you that the best color is white, while others prefer colored towels.
Advantages of white towels for vacation rentals
White gives the impression of cleanliness, which is why it’s the color of choice for hotels. They’re easier to maintain, and any suspicious stains are immediately spotted. The result: impeccable towels every time, to the delight of your guests.
Disadvantage of white towels for short-term rentals
They stain more easily, so maintenance is more frequent and intense. Wear and tear can be faster, and so can replacement!
Advantages of coloured towels for short-term rentals
Dark towels don’t stain as easily. So you won’t need to wash them as regularly as white towels. Small stains are invisible, even to guests! Less potential for negative remarks!
Disadvantage colored towels for Airbnb rentals
Colored towels tend to fade rather quickly. So you’ll need to change your bath sheets and towels more regularly.
We tested both and opted for the white linen. Towels, bath sheets and bed linen are all white.
How many towels per person?
When you decide to provide one of these categories of towels , you must provide one per guest.
In fact, you need to provide one towel per traveler per type of towel to guarantee a comfortable stay and a memorable experience for your guests! You need to think carefully about the number of potential rentals in a week. This means you need to provide enough sheets and towels for your changing guests. One towel per person is the minimum. Additional towels can be stored in a locked cupboard if travelers expressly request them.

How to choose quality towels Grammage
Towel weight :
Bath linen quality is measured according to several criteria:
- Quality materials(Egyptian cotton, bamboo fiber or Turkish cotton)
- Durability and strong towels
- Easy to wash
- Soft fabric, pleasant to the touch.
For towels and bath sheets, we recommend a minimum thickness of 400 grams/M2.
500 to 550 G/M2 is the ideal thickness for a towel that’s both resistant and absorbent. Of course, you can go up to 600/700 G/M2 for even greater luxury and comfort.
Microfiber towels are preferable.
Bath mat thickness :
If you opt for bath mats , you’ll need a minimum of 700 grams/M2, ideally 900 grams/M2.
For premium comfort for your travellers, we can go up to 1200 Grams/M2!
Bathrobes :
Finally, if you provide your guests with bathrobesduring their stay, the ideal weight for a comfortable bathrobe is between 350 and 420 grams per m2, beyond which it would become a little heavy to wear!
The honeycomb bathrobe is lightweight and quick-drying, ideal for spa or jacuzzi use.
In short: The higher the grammage, the greater the comfort for your guests.
You’ll get very soft, pleasant fabrics. However, you should bear in mind that the drying time will be longer!
Airbnb towels – bath sheets – The essentials :

If you’ve ever done any research, you’ll find that most bath towels are priced from 10 to 30 euros each! Some even exceed that price…
It’s important to understand that even these expensive towels will quickly fade and stain in your vacation rental.
What’s more, given the frequency of washing, you’ll need to replace them much more regularly than your own towels. So there’s no need to buy fancy bath towels.
Mind you, the idea is not to go to the other extreme and buy cheap towels that will soon have huge linting problems.
For us, the best Airbnb towel is one that’s neither too luxurious nor too fluffy, and that’s resistant to numerous washes and your tumble dryer.
What size towels for airbnb?
The recommended towel size is 140 X 70 cm in white, for example.
We recommend white, as this color, chosen in hotels, conveys an image of cleanliness and purity to your travelers.
If, however, you prefer colors, cream or gray may also be suitable.

Small towels in your Airbnb essential?
At the beginning of our Airbnb adventure, we started out providing only a large bath sheet.
Being new to vacation rentals, we check out to gather our guests’ opinions. One remark kept coming back: the absence of a second towel for the shower exit.
Indeed, it is much appreciated by women with long hair. The latter is used to dry and cover hair. In fact, every time you go out, you’ll often find that one of the two has not been used!
Take a white towel, size: 50 X 70 cm
Here are some ideas for your purchase.
Shower mats: Why provide them?
They provide both greater safety with their non-slip surface and greater comfort when getting out of the shower. Placed at the exit, they also limit the dispersion of water in your bathroom.
When we launched our Airbnb, we bought bamboo gratings. Pretty and happy with our purchase, we were soon disillusioned.
In fact, after a few weeks, mildew was appearing as a result of splashing water from the shower. We decided to throw them out and change the way they worked.
We’ve bought shower mats. You have two options:
- or choose a single 90 x 60 cm non-slipbath mat ;
- or provide each traveler with a smaller, individual “hotel-style” mat.
For greater hygiene and comfort for our guests, we have decided to operate as in hotels, with smaller 50 x 70 cm white personal shower mats.

What towels should be provided for a swimming pool or jacuzzi?
If your accommodation includes a Jacuzzi or swimming pool, we recommend that you provide a set of towels dedicated to this area.
These extra towels will be much appreciated by your guests. Your home, already classified as top-of-the-range thanks to your equipment, will take on an even more luxurious dimension…
We suggest you set them apart by buying these large bath towels with patterns or stripes. Place them in the pool or jacuzzi area. You’ll find our ideas here.
Airbnb towels – Optional extras :
Hand towels :
Hand towels can add a touch of elegance to your vacation rental. Providing them can be a real plus if your property is in the “Premium” category.
We recommend a 30 x 30 cm hand towel in white.
However, the problem with hand towels is the premature wear and tear they’ll suffer due to the combination of numerous washes and their small size. You need to bear in mind that you’ll need to replace them more often.
This makes price an important criterion in your choice. We recommend a price of around €2 per unit. Maximum €3!

Toilet gloves :
Since the beginning of this article, we’ve been recommending white for your bathroom linen. However, for the washcloth we prefer to buy it in black or dark blue.
Indeed, we’ve found to our cost that white washcloths have an annoying tendency to disappear in our Airbnb. Travelers use them for so many things that get them dirty (with make-up, for example) that they often throw them in the trash.

What material is ideal for airbnb towels?
For your Airbnb towels, we recommend cotton terry, which is soft and absorbent.
You can choose between :
- carded cotton
- combed cotton
When you see 100% cotton on a label, it’s carded cotton.
If you’re looking for asilkier texture and extra softness, choose combed cotton. Its fibers, which are twice as long, retain their suppleness and luster despite frequent washing. Finally, choose Egyptian cotton (not too thick, but absorbent and easy-drying).

How do you manage laundry in an Airbnb?
We advise you to outsource this task to professionals with the right equipment for optimal linen management!Linen care is time-consuming, and if Airbnb rental is not your main activity, it’s a good idea to outsource this task. If you want to clean your linen, read our tips below.
Washing and caring for your airbnb towels:
- Avoid using too much stain remover, as towels tend to become rough if too much detergent is used.
- If towels are white, use bleach to remove stains
- The ideal temperature for washing towels is between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius. Bacteria are killed off, while the softness of the linen is preserved.
If you can, air-dry rather than tumble-dry.
Our tips for choosing your airbnb towels:
Investing in linen is a heavy investment at the outset , but it’s essential if you want to run your short-term rental business smoothly and efficiently.
Finally, if you’re not convinced by white, you can opt for cream or grey.
